Led by Dr Mingjing Lin, this project explores how parametric design can connect bioinspired design with textile practice. It asks how computational tools can help designers interpret principles found in living systems and translate them into textile forms, structures and behaviours.

By bringing digital modelling into dialogue with material experimentation, the project opens up ways to investigate how textiles might be designed to respond, adapt and perform. It contributes to Active Materials Lab’s wider interest in materials that connect structure, function and change, and in design methods that turn insights from biology into new possibilities for textiles.
