BID follows on from the Bioinspired Textiles  project led by Dr. Veronika Kapsali. Also funded by the AHRC as part of their follow on funding scheme, the project is aimed at promoting sustainable design skills in the creative sector through biomimetic principles. The project seeks to overcome the challenges that designers face in integrating biological insights into their practice. The outcomes of the project include an extended Bio-Inspired Design (BID) framework, a model for sustainable design, and practical methodologies for implementing concepts from biology into product and design disciplines. BID aims to engage stakeholders, develop online courses, and contribute to policy discussions to foster interdisciplinary approaches and enhance sustainable design practices.
